"Thousands of moss-covered limestone islands jut out from the azure waters of Halong Bay, sliced by wind and often shrouded in mist."

The fascinating Halong Bay is found in the Quang Ninh province in north-east Vietnam, within the Gulf of Tonkin.

The myth surrounding these mysterious islands is just as alluring. Halong translates to ‘where the dragon descends into the sea’, and legend claims that the islands were formed by a great dragon who charged from the mountains to the coast, flailing its tail and gouging valleys and crevasses as it rushed by. When it finally reached the sea, the area flooded with water, leaving only the peaks visible.
